Entry #2 during COVID
On February 5, 2021 by Keturah HaferkampIn the local municipality we had to get tested again. Now we are awaiting test results. The COVID test was rough. Eyes water and really it is a painful, impersonal process. Since there is both the throat and nasal sample taken, it takes a bit of endurance.
That was our COVID test #5. It was NOT a good experience. I hope #6 is better. We have 1 more test which shall happen just before the 14 day period is over I believe. After that is our “liberation day” from quarantine provided all goes well.
This time the test taker was more efficient. The test was administered by a person who clearly knew what she was doing. It did not feelĀ any better, but she was confident in her work and practiced at it. Her hands moved with deft efficiency.
One of us however was administered the test by a young man who was clearly much less experienced. Skill always ranges in quality; the deficiency probably has a lot to do with being forced to scale so quickly due to the rise in need for competent workers. As young new workers practice, they will improve.
Some people say the COVID test is “uncomfortable.” That is much too mild a term in my estimation. Perhaps they use this term as a kind of grooming mechanism, trying to convince the mind that pain is not pain. Pain hurts. It’s ok to be honest. This is a hard part to endure through.
Now we have officially begun the 15 day quarantine period. May we have grace to endure that too.
