Fall2019

This blog is specifically for Fall Semester 2019.  Our family will be Haferkamping in China.

I (Keturah) will be a guest teaching English for grad school students in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. My workplace has granted one semester’s leave for this opportunity.

English Language Learner (ELL) students experience unique challenges in the Academic English Writing (AEW) classroom. As a credit level Rhetoric and Composition professor I am looking forward to learning methods for appropriately responsive course development. Triton College has generously granted me leave so that I can explore my interests in this area and I am so grateful. I especially want to say thank you to our college president Mary-Rita Moore; to Associate VP Joe Klinger for answering my (so many) questions; to Dean Kevin Li for being a constant source of encouragement; and to my dept chairperson Dr. Michael Flaherty for his careful guidance and support.

I’m also delighted that my family will be joining me on this adventure. Brian’s employer has  granted permission for him to work remotely for a period of 3 months. Our children plan to homeschool while there and will have a tutor for language study. We plan to live in housing provided by the university from September through December 2019.
