Floating Time Zone
On October 7, 2019 by Keturah HaferkampI did not know how anxiety-inducing it could be to NOT have a reliable calendar, but wow. The last week has had me stressed about the time zone shifts on my daily calendar.
Except for the translate app, Google does not work in China, but Google calendar services are what I’ve got. It did not occur to me to shift to a new calendar. Despite all my other shifting in prep for this trip this left me blindsided.
I woke up that first day in-country and when I checked the app I was flabbergasted. Times and dates for classes and appointments were everywhere they were not supposed to be. And somehow I have lived all week long with the needling suspicion that these were fixable realities–but that the knowledge of how to fix any of it was beyond me.
Finally, I stumbled upon an online forum this morning. I applied the suggestions and voila! My calendar is again as it should be. And maybe not ALL is right with the WHOLE world but at least this next week I can rest a little easier.
The forum that saved my sanity.
