Getting Settled In
On December 18, 2018 by brian.haferkampAfter our long trip, we just needed to make sure we got some sleep. So we slept in for the morning and got a late start.
Our only plan for today was to get some groceries. With much fanfare we accomplished our goal 😊
We went to a supermarket called, Continente, at a shopping center nearby. It was pretty large, equivalent to a mid-sized Walmart back in the US. It had groceries, toys, clothing, and home items.
My first foray into driving was an eventful one. I missed some turns, scolded myself (unjustifiably) for not driving perfectly in a country I’ve never been in, and got way too snippy.
During the ride, Baek started feeling sick to her stomach and when we parked the car at the shopping center, threw up in the parking lot. The plus side was that she was feeling a little better. K went to the pharmacy in the mall and got some things that made Baek feel better. After dinner she was back to her old self.
Along the way we also managed to get some groceries for dinner. Pesto pasta, fresh salad, grapes, and bacon-wrapped dates for dessert–very delicious.
Also, here’s a photo of the home we’re staying in. The unit we are in is on the far left.
The neighborhood is situated on a hillside overlooking the place where the main river runs into the Atlantic Ocean. If you look past the car on the left, you can just make out the water.
