Pasteis de Belém
On December 30, 2018 by brian.haferkampWe stopped at the most famous cafe in Lisbon, Pasteis de Belém. They opened in 1837 and are the originators of the pastel de nata. The recipe is from the monastery next door. Read about the history of Pasteis de Belém. There is a huge line to get a pastry on the sidewalk or a huge line to sit in the cafe. We had time and chose the huge line to sit in the cafe.
Bella and I really liked the pastel de nata here while Keturah and Baek preferred Chef João’s. I also had a bica, which is a Portuguese espresso, while Keturah had a cappuccino. A delicious treat!
