The Schedule
On July 16, 2019 by Keturah HaferkampI received my schedule. The plan is for me to teach one course, a comprehensive English class for graduate students. It will be 12 teaching hours per week, from Week 3 to Week 17.
Because the work visa I have applied for will apply for only permits me to be in country for 90 days, the University has graciously allowed me to teach an abbreviated course (13 weeks instead of the typical 17 weeks).
This summer I am teaching a 5 week writing course, or a 16 week course in 5 weeks time. It is very challenging. My students amaze me. I’m sure at times this class must be overwhelming to them, but they do the work and meet the challenges and come to class ready each day. I’m impressed.
I look forward to seeing what kinds of writing the students will do in China. It will be neat to see what choices students make in the work they produce and what inherent qualities their writing has.
