And We’re Off!
On December 17, 2018 by brian.haferkampDay One has been pretty eventful so far. I’m sitting in the airport in Paris as I begin to detail the day (that is not quite finished).
We originally planned to spend the month in Paris, but with the outbreak of the Yellow Vest riots downtown (not far from the place we were staying) we decided to make a major change to our plans.
Back in the summer we connected with a family in Lisbon, Portugal. We had originally planned to travel from Paris to Lisbon for a short stay to meet them in person.
When our plans changed, we reached out in hopes of staying for more than a few days. They were headed back to the US for the same amount of time and agreed to let us stay in their home for the majority of our vacation.
They are coming home before we leave so we’ll have to leave a few days before our flight home. If things calm down in Paris, we hope to come back and visit the city before flying back home.
So today we played, “How Many Airports Can We Visit In One Day?” We have gone from Chicago to Reykjavik to both airports in Paris (Charles de Gaulle and Orly). We’re waiting right now to go to Madrid and finally arrive in Lisbon just before midnight.
It’s been a long day.
We’re on very little sleep and the girls have been amazing. Here are some photos from the first day of the trip.
