Final Day in France

Today was our last full day in Europe. I think we walked farther than we’ve ever walked on a trip. Museé de l’Orangerie The Museé de l’Orangerie houses the work of Claude Monet in a beautiful double circular space. It also exhibits the work of Renoir, Picasso, and others. The museum sits opposite the Louvre

The Latin Quarter

We explored the Latin Quarter today. It was the place we had originally booked to stay in Paris and there are some really great sites we wanted to see while we were here. Notre Dame This is the only photo I have of Notre Dame itself. We actually attended noon mass today. That was our

The Louvre

We only have a short time in Paris so we’re trying to enjoy it and maximize the opportunities at the same time. Today we spent the day at the Louvre. It was glorious. And tiring. The girls impressed us with their stamina and were exposed to the most famous art museum in the world.

Paris

We are flying out of Paris on Monday and have hoped to spend a few days exploring the city center. Every time we tried to get a flight and hotel room in Paris some part didn’t work out. Last week we were finally able to get tickets to fly and a hotel room. So today

Óbidos

Today we drove an hour north to the village of Óbidos, a town and castle that archaeologists say is built on the site of a Roman settlement. The castle was captured by the first King of Portugal in 1148. There is a well-preserved acquaduct that is connected to the village.   For dinner we stopped

Arrival–6 Airports and 5 Cities Later

We arrived safe and sound at about 1am. We’re tired and ready to go to bed. We haven’t slept much for about a day, so I expect tomorrow will be quite restful.

And We’re Off!

Day One has been pretty eventful so far. I’m sitting in the airport in Paris as I begin to detail the day (that is not quite finished). We originally planned to spend the month in Paris, but with the outbreak of the Yellow Vest riots downtown (not far from the place we were staying) we
